Topics
IRSTV "Institute for Research on Urban Sciences and Techniques" leads an interdisciplinary research in the field of urban environment and the research programme more specially concerns the development of knowledge, models, tools and methodologies for the management, the design, the decision-making and the evaluation of city planning policies around 3 main topics :
Acquisition, representation and management of environmental urban data.
- Urban data is the focal point for the IRSTV scientific project as a whole. Thus all knowledge and data on cities or districts is stored for use in subsequent projects (sustainable project, energy policy, risk management, etc.)
Modelling and simulation of urban physical environments
- The aim is to create models that correlate physical, morphological and environmental features of cities in order to evaluate their impact on the environment and on people an gain better insight into social behaviour and changing uses of urban areas.
Environmental planning and management in sustainable urban design
- The goal is to acquire models, methodologies and tools that fully integrate the environmental dimension and how it relates to users and social behaviour at all stages of the urban project (planning, design, construction and management).
